Future Leaders Elementary celebrated the final Dream Squad event of the school year with a meaningful morning focused on family, community, and growth.

The Dream Squad, a dedicated team of teachers committed to creating a welcoming environment for the entire school community, has spent the year organizing events connected to three important phases: Learn, Explore, and Grow. As spring arrived, the school entered the Grow phase, with activities centered on growth in every sense of the word.

This spring, students have been learning about growth through hands-on experiences. They helped create a beautiful student garden, where they are learning how to grow fruits, vegetables, and plants while also making the school environment cleaner, greener, and more inviting. In science class, students have also been growing seedlings using hydroponic systems (thanks to the grant received by the Science Teacher – Ms. Kelly), giving them another opportunity to see how food and plants develop from the very beginning.

For parents, the Dream Squad hosted a special morning event created by Ms. Wanda Sousa and Ms. Marlene Soto. Families gathered in the cafeteria for breakfast and conversation about the importance of growing food at home. The discussion focused on how even a small windowsill garden, a few fresh herbs, or a small outdoor space can help children understand where their food comes from. For families with larger yards or gardens, the event also encouraged them to continue building on those opportunities at home.

After breakfast, parents visited the newly opened student-created garden. The visit became a special opening ceremony, allowing families to see the work students and teachers have been doing together. Parents were invited to take home young plants, or seedlings, in small trays and containers decorated with Dream Squad stickers. This small gift helped connect the school garden to each family’s home and encouraged families to continue growing together.

The event reflected the larger mission of Future Leaders Elementary: building an amazing school community where students, families, and staff work together. The Dream Squad’s work throughout the year has helped create experiences that are welcoming, educational, and connected to real learning.

Future Leaders Elementary extends sincere appreciation to all the parents who attended, as well as the teachers and staff who helped make the event possible. Special thanks go to Ms. Wanda Sousa, Ms. Marlene Soto, and Mr. “Grin” Recanatini for their leadership and contributions.

As the school year comes to a close, the final Dream Squad event served as a reminder that growth happens in many ways: in the classroom, in the garden, at home, and throughout the school community. At Future Leaders Elementary, we are growing together.
